Enquiries for Atao
A close encounter with ATAO is a very special thing. No other craft in Sydney Harbour or the east coast of Australia can deliver the authentic superyacht sailing experience.
Atao is a classic and beautiful 25m/82ft cutter-rigged centreboard sloop, commissioned especially for cruising and leisure sailing.
Atao (meaning “forever” in Breton), was designed by Baracuda Yacht Designs and built by JFA Chantier Naval in Brittany, France. She was launched in 2006 and plied the Mediterranean and Caribbean before coming to Australia. The yacht’s interior was designed by Dick Young Design.
The 15-ton lifting keel is a special feature of the yacht which increases the shallow draught from 2.55 to 4.20 metres to provide the impressive upwind capability. Her new North Sail mainsail and gib ensure impressive all-round sailing performance. Her upwind sail area is 300 square metres and downwind 570 square metres.
ATAO brings back the age-old thrill of traditional sailing fused with luxury befitting a private, bespoke, five-star hotel. This is no powerboat experience – instead, there’s the unique exhilaration of feeling at one with wind, sun, and sea.
