Things to do in Sydney this Winter

THINGS TO DO IN SYDNEY THIS WINTER

As the temperature drops, we often just want to snuggle up next to the heater and watch Netflix whilst sipping warm tea (or mulled wine). Although there’s absolutely nothing wrong with becoming a hermit for the winter months, the team at Sydney Harbour Exclusive thought we’d bring you a list of fun things to do in Sydney on the days or evenings you do want to head out.

Explore Darling Harbour

Darling Harbour is a great place to start whether you’re heading out with friends or family. The Wildlife Museum and Sydney Aquarium are kid-friendly, engaging and even a little educational. Madame Tussauds is great fun for all ages, and the many cafes and restaurants at one’s fingertips will sure to have something for everyone. For a fantastic evening out with friends, explore different cuisines on offer, ride the infamous Ferris-wheel and enjoy the beautiful bars with even more beautiful views.

Go Whale Watching

Whale watching is great fun- it’s an unforgettable experience and luckily for us, Sydney is one of the best places to whale-watch. You’ll be able to see frolicking humpbacks from coastal headlands between May and November. To further amplify the experience, combine it with a scenic coastal walk. Why not charter your own luxury boat?

Go For a Walk

Get some vitamin D by doing Bondi to Coogee, exploring one of the National Parks or taking a stroll in the Royal Botanic Gardens. We tend to get a lot less sun exposure and fresh air in winter which can really affect our mood. We also tend to exercise less during the colder months, which can cause all sorts of misalignments.  Leafy gardens and beaches are amazing for giving you a good dose of oxygen and you’ll be impressed by the breathtaking scenery while you get your heart-rate up.

See a play/musical/cultural Performance or Concert.

Winter is a good time of the year for cultural events. There are lots of great upcoming blockbusters such as Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Explore the events happening in your area, get dressed up and make a day/night out of it.

Go to Taronga Zoo

Take a ferry or charter a private luxury boat from Circular Quay across the beautiful harbour to Taronga Zoo. Enjoy the daily animal shows, activities for kids and fantastic atmosphere. It’s a quirky place for dates, an ideal destination to visit with the kids and generally a great idea for a day out.

Escape From a Room

Now this one may not be for everyone. For something a little different, why not head to one of Sydney’s Escape Rooms or Puzzle Rooms? It’s an unusual and interesting indoor activity idea for adventurous groups of friends and families. Anticipate plenty of fun and an opportunity for strategic thinking and quick problem-solving.

Take a trip to the Blue Mountains

There’s something very tranquil and romantic about the Blue Mountains in winter. Rent a serene little cottage, explore during the day and curl up by the fireplace in the evening. If you are after a day trip, Mount Wilson is worth a visit. Its many pristine gardens are stunning in the colder months and will make you feel like you are wandering through the gardens of your very own private chateau in Europe.

Go Skiing

Finally, if you get an opportunity, Thredbo and Perisher are fail-safe destinations to experience a little “white winter” and indulge in winter sports. Both are fantastic, so it’s down to personal preference as to which will work best for you. It’s the perfect winter getaway idea!

There you have it, the Sydney Harbour Exclusive winter list with a little something for everyone. And if none of the above sounds appealing, we can help you organize your very own private luxury boat charter which will be sure to create some warm memories in the cooler months.
